Welcome to our Governors’ section

Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.

The governing body provide strategic direction and accountability in school. The Headteacher is responsible for the day to day management of the school and the Governors provide supportive critical challenge. Individual Governors do not act independently of the rest of the  governing body, decisions are the joint responsibility of the governing body. 

The role of the governing body is: 
  • To set high standards of educational achievement
  • To set the aims and objectives for the school 
  • To set policies to help the school achieve aim and objectives
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress school is making
  • Monitoring the schools finances
  • Appoint staff and monitor staff performance
The governing body consists of:
  • The Headteacher
  • Two elected staff governor
  • Two parent governors 
  • Five co-opted governors

The standard term of office for a governor is four years. The Chair and Vice-Chair are elected annually at the first meeting of the academic year.
